EP President Martin SCHULZ met this morning with Yingluck SHINAWATRA, Prime Minister of Thailand. Yingluck SHINAWATRA is a successful businesswoman and now the first woman in the charge of Prime Minister in her country, after her party's victory in the 3 July 2011 general election. Ms. Yingluck SHINAWATRA, received many critics pointing her inexperience when she took her position. She is the youngest sister of Mr Thaksin SHINAWATRA, who who was Prime Minister of Thailand from 2001 until 2006, when he was overthrown in a military coup. However, she won a landslide victory, gaining 265 seats in the 500 of the House of Representatives of Thailand. It was only the second time in the history of the country that a single party won a parliamentary majority. The first time was, under his brother leadership, the Thai Rak Thai Party. Now, she is leading the country with the second largest economy in Southeast Asia.
