Visit of José Manuel Barroso at the Joodse Historische Museum and Portuguese Synagogue in Amsterdam

On 8 January 2013, José Manuel Barroso, President of the EC, went to Amsterdam where he visited the Jewish Historical Museum (Joods Historisch Museum) dedicated to Jewish history, culture and religion. The President then visited the Portuguese Synagogue, also called the "Esnoga". The "Ets Haim – Livraria Montezinos" library of the Synagogue is the oldest Jewish library, registered on the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) "Memory of the World" Programme since 2003.
