||SOUNDBITE by Štefan Füle, Member of the EC in charge of Enlargement and European Neighbourhood Policy, (in FRENCH) saying that the Maghreb is an important region for the European Union; it is also a region with great potential; the strengthening of regional cooperation in the Maghreb will better cope with current challenges, including creating more jobs and strengthen the democratic transition; a more united Maghreb is a factor of peace and prosperity; this will also be positive for the European Union; for example, the EU wants to develop trade and investment with the Maghreb, and major projects such as exporting to the EU electricity produced by renewable energy; the EC did a lot of other concrete proposals; of course, this is the Maghreb countries themselves to give the signal they want to progress faster in regional integration; the European Union stands by their side and brings its experience in a spirit of solidarity.
