Štefan Füle, Member of the EC in charge of Enlargement and European Neighbourhood Policy, received Igor Lukšić, Montenegrin Deputy Prime Minister, Minister for Foreign Affairs and European Integration, on 19 December 2012 in Brussels. They talked about the European integration process of the country. The European Union began negotiations with accession candidate Montenegro on 18 December by opening and closing talks on science and research, the first of 35 sets of topics. Accession talks were formally launched in June 2012.
