00:00:16 SOUNDBITE (in English) Andreas Mavroyiannis, Cyprus Minister for European Affairs and President-in-office of the Council: As you know the report contains some innovative ideas. It is important to highlight that a number of important measures have already been taken with regard to in-deep Economic and Monetary Union. However, as the roadmap indicates there is still a long and ambitious way to go. In delight of the comments made by delegations on the draft conclusions we will now revised before to submit to the European Council. We welcome the effort to complete the Economic and Monetary Union and the concrete effort to develop a comprehensive approach in the banking union. 00:00:36

00:00:56 SOUNDBITE (in English) Maroš Šefcovic, EC Vice-President in charge of Interinstitutional Relations and Administration: I use this opportunity from one side to remind our colleagues that we already went quite far. We already achieved a lot over the last couple of years in building the real true Economic and Monetary Union but it is very important that we still move further. I use this opportunity to bring some elements to the attention of the Ministers from the Commission's blueprint and highlighting how important they are for any future discussion on this topic from the point of view of the Commission. How important it is that we will build the system on community method, how important is also the sequencing where we need to balance increased responsibility and increased solidarity within the EU area. 00:00:49
