||Soundbite by Kristalina Georgieva, Member of the EC in charge of International Cooperation, Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Response (in ENGLISH): We know that every time a crisis hits 80% of the most effected come from the 20% poorest most vulnerable people and it is these people who have lease access to the high corridors of power and it is for them that the Alliance is being formed.

||Soundbite by Kristalina Georgieva (in ENGLISH): Now we have a new Food Assistance Convention – it became effective on December 1st this year and what this convention does is shift away from giving food to giving cash and vouchers. So people can buy food where markets work and it stimulates these markets. So we don't end up feeding the hungry but killing the local farmers and we will only bring food when it is truly not available locally and regionally.
