On 3 December 2012, Antonio Tajani, Vice-President of the EC in charge of Industry and Entrepreneurship, travelled to London, where he pronounced a speech at the conference entitled "European Space Solutions", an initiative of the European Commission, hosted by the UK Space Agency. Antonio Tajani presented the Global Monitoring for Environment and Security (GMES), the EC’s earth observation programme that will create 83 000 jobs in Europe by 2030.
