The Council will be called on to approve a mandate for the negotiation of a free trade agreement with Japan. It will review progress in negotiations that are currently underway on free trade agreements with Canada and Singapore. Trade relations with the southern Mediterranean are amongst the other items on the Council's agenda. Ministers will discuss also trade and investment relations with Russia, following its accession to the WTO, and trade and investment relations with China.
