The Austrian Chancellor Werner FAYMANN, Chancellor of Austria has meet EP President Martin Schulz ahead his speech in the chamber on the future of Europe.
Primarily focus was given to plans versus the high unemployment across the European countries and the EU budget, but also necessity to stay in solidatrity together. The issues of the debate included also financial market regulation, saving the Euro zone, setting up a "redemption fund", social measures to accompany structural reform and reducing youth unemployment. He also expressed his thoughts on EU-2014-2020 budget negotiations. Mr Faymann (SPÖ) has headed a coalition government of Social Democrats and Christian Democrats (ÖVP) since 2008. Austria's next legislative elections will be held in autumn 2013.
