On 19 November 2012, José Manuel Barroso, President of the EC, and Michel Martelly, President of Haiti, held a press briefing following their meeting. José Manuel Barroso congratulated the President of Haiti for reforms which have been carried out since he took office in May 2011. He also reiterated his deep sympathy for the victims of hurricane Sandy which stroke Haiti in October. Michel Martelly thanked the EU for its financial help and strong support following the terrible earthquake. He added that Haiti is changing and recovering.
