Participation of Antonio Tajani to the EU/Egypt Task Force Business Summit, in Cairo

On 13 November 2012, Antonio Tajani, Vice-President of the EC in charge of Industry and Entrepreneurship, went to Cairo.
Antonio Tajani was accompanied by a large business delegation composed of representatives of 102 European companies and industry associations from 13 Member States. Collectively they represented approximately three million employees and €700 billion in turnover. This mission was part of the series of "Missions for Growth" to help European enterprises, in particular small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) to better profit from fast growing emerging international markets.

||Soundbite by Antonio Tajani, Vice-President of the EC in charge of Industry and Entrepreneurship (in ENGLISH): Ladies and Gentlemen, I am proud to see so many Representatives of the European Business Community here at this critical time. More than a 120 Representatives of the European Business have come here today. They come from 15 countries of the EU, from the West to East, from North to South. Together, they represent a turnover of 700 Billion euros, an employment of 3,5 Million people. We will be helping the Egyptian economy and its tourism sector to get back on track. This will give to the transition a sense. I hope that the awake of the Arabic Spring will stronger the remerge of world influence on the basis of a new and stronger connection between business, inventors, traders and politicians from both sides of the Mediterranean. The new Egyptian government is looking to Europe as a friend and in its challenging process of transition. My coming here today with so many European business and policy makers is also showing that we are ready to help (4 shots)
