00:00:05 Soundbite by Stefan Füle (in English): “Arriving to Cairo, what comes to my mind immediately is the Constitution. A new Constitution. There is a determination of Authorities that the new Constitution reflects the aspirations of the Egyptian People for the dignity, Justice, notably insuring respect for Human Rights and democratic values, to insure that you need that process to be inclusive, to insure that the Constitution reflects the aspirations the Egyptian people, you need to hear the Egyptian people and the strongest way to do it is trough the Civil Society and providing them with the specifically defined role those in charge of writing the Constitution could benefit. The second point where I think it is particularly important is to see the role of the Civil Society strengthened is the role of women, in particular in the Egyptian Society. The role of the Egyptian women in the revolution, in the initial stage of the transformation, has been remarkable. It is important to build on it. It is important to allow the women to remain a progressive part of the Society to the very same Constitution and other laws extending the rights of women and not the other way around. The aim is to provide the European agenda one of the partnership of the EU. The values of partnership is built on as main subject for that structured dialogue between the Government and the Authorities. It is important to realize that there are many other actors in the international scene who are not only interested in seeing the success of the transformation process. Because of that, the role of the Civil Society needs to be strengthened and we are going to continue to cooperate with those players, whether they are other countries or the international Organizations like the Council of Europe and others.” 00:03:55
