||Statement (English) by Martin SCHULZ, EP President, "I think it is a good day for us. The decision about a Single Supervisory Mechanism is a step forward and I think it will be difficult to realise it, there is a long way to go, and the date March/April2014 also as an estimation that it is a realistic need for time and it is for sure not by chance that it is coincident with the end of the mandate of the EP. The decision about Greece is finally a good decision because it is taken on the basis of the estimation that there are some progress in Greece and that is in my eyes the most important thing. "
||Statement (English) by Martin SCHULZ, EP President, " we need more coherence in Europe. We need not only coherence in the mechanisms and in the institutions , we need coherence in the economy, we need coherence on the society; the gap between the richer and the poorer countries , the gap between our societies is worrying. We are afraid that in the proposals of Herman Van Rompuy, no social Union is mentioned. It is not sufficient in Europe to only have a Fiscal Union, an Economic Union, a Monetary Union, the social dimension is for us the highest important and we make an appeal to the Heads of State and government: If they really believe that we need an ambitious reform of the EU, they should strengthen the Community institutions."
||Statement (English) by Martin SCHULZ, EP President,"Mr Berlusconi is a member of the EPP and I think that this is a problem of the EPP, they have to solve. And I heard very carefully what Joseph DAUL, the Leader of the EPP group in the EP said. I share his view. I think , it belongs to those who already , long time ago , expressed their view. What Europe needs and the overwhelming majority of EPP members know this, What Italy needs is stability, therefore I think the Italians will solve the problem during the elections."
