10:00:48 Soundbite by Kristalina Georgieva, Member of the EC in charge of International Cooperation, Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Response (in ENGLISH): on two occasions to visit Niger, in 2010 and earlier this year, because of droughts causing massive food and nutrition crises. Crises which were overcome thanks to the joint efforts of your government and the international donor community. I saw much in Niger's response that left me deeply impressed. I was particularly impressed by the honesty and determination of you, Mr. President, and of each and every member of your government, when discussing tough and complex challenges - such as the strive for food security in the context of climate change, population growth, and regional instability. And I am pleased to see the same honesty and determination in the Economic and Social Development Plan for 2012-2015. 00:01:11

10:02:09 Soundbite by Kristalina Georgieva (in ENGLISH): Niger is and will remain one of our most important partner countries in West Africa. Because there is real scope for making progress in economic development and towards the MDGs. But also because our views and objectives are converging on fundamental values of inclusive developments, democracy, human rights, the rule of law and good governance. We will particularly continue to stress your efforts to address food insecurity; In other words, we are your partners for the 3N; You can count on us; So, we have already provided 40 millions euros for this specifically and we are looking for ways to increase our support. 00:00:50

10:03:08 Soundbite by Kristalina Georgieva (in ENGLISH): The EU has taken a clear long term commitment to address the food insecurity and malnutrition in the Sahel and we believe that "AGIR-Sahel", the focus on resilience, is the way to go and we count on you, Mister President to lead regionally in this effort. Before I conclude Mister President, I would like to make a very personal note to thank you for your care to the five humanitarian workers that were kidnapped. You met with them. Unfortunately, one of their colleagues died during the abduction. This is an indication of how, unfortunately, humanitarian work dangerous is and I do appreciate your effort, your signal that you are sending that security of these workers who are risking their lives to save the lives of others is your priority. Let me finish by saying that we are your partners, we have been determined, dedicated partners and we will continue to be so. Thank you. 00:01:04
