00:00:05 SOUNDBITE (in English) Herman Van Rompuy, President of the European Council: We are all very proud and we that means not only the EU leaders, all the EU citizens from this generation and the former generations. We are all very proud that we receive this Nobel Prize, recognition of the work of the EU as a peacemaker. We were in war during centuries, we had those two world wars, civil wars, we put an end on this. And with the EU that kind of war can not happen anymore. So the EU is really the biggest peacemaking institution ever created in world history. And we have still a mission of propagating, peace, democracy human right in the rest of the world. So this is recognition for the work of our predecessors and all the citizens during the last six decades. And it is our responsibility, as European leaders to pursue this work so that the future generation can still have all the benefits of the EU. So, we are very proud today that we receive this Nobel Prize, not on our behalf but on behalf of the predecessors what they did and of all the citizens are proud these days to be Europeans. 00:01:35
