10:01:31 Soundbite by Kanayo F. Nwanze (in ENGLISH) on the agreement they signed as a concrete step in scaling-up their joint efforts towards creating the conditions in which poor rural people can not only feed themselves but can also help feed the more than 9 billion people who will inhabit the planet by 2050. 00:06:10
10:07:41 Soundbite by Andris Piebalgs (in ENGLISH): Signing this MoU with IFAD is a very welcomed step for the people in the poorest regions of the world. We know that with a growing population, food security is far from granted. Particularly in times of huge price volatilities. So the only way to address it is really to increase agriculture development in the countries and in the places where farmers and the most rural populations live. That is exactly what we try to address through the cooperation with IFAD. I believe that we have a good history of cooperation but the task force for next year is scaling up our achievements, scaling up our ambition and definitely helping the government and the people of these countries to reach food security and decent income for them and their families. So I believe that today's event is definitely landmark in our cooperation but the most important change happens in the countries such as Burundi Mozambique or Niger where we have had this experience of working together. So thank you very much for all your cooperation, for your ambition, for helping 80 million people to come out poverty. The European Union will support you in reaching your headline goals. 00:01:59
