End production: 06/10/2012 First transmission: 06/10/2012
On 6 October 2012, László Andor, Member of the EC in charge of Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion, participated at the sixth Brussels Job Day which took place in the Commission's Berlaymont headquarters. The event, which is one of the many Job Days organised throughout Europe, aims to showcase opportunities for jobseekers to link up with companies throughout the EU that want to recruit people, notably through the EURES network. Jobseekers will be able to meet face to face and connect online with advisers from the EURES network to find out more about opportunities to live and work in another EU country.

||Soundbite by László Andor (in ENGLISH): The Job Days event is a very important event for the European Commission because we can demonstrate that we can help a lot of citizens who want to find a job. Belgium has had a relatively good performance in terms of retaining jobs and keeping unemployment low but unfortunately this is a major problem in the European Union. Unemployment has increased also in the last one year and particularly in Southern Europe countries and especially young generation face a very difficult situation. So, we need to reinforce the institutions that help unemployed people and that is also why the reinforcement of the EURES will be one of the key initiatives of the next months.
