On 24 September 2012, Štefan Füle, Member of the EC in charge of Enlargement and European Neighbourhood Policy, received the visit of Marian Lupu, Chairman of the Moldovan Parliament, at the European Commission.
On this occasion, they discussed the progress achieved by a close partner country in its structural reforms, and the importance of their further consolidation. Štefan Füle underlined the importance that the EU attaches to the reform of the judiciary and law enforcement systems, and the importance of strengthening the fight against corruption and improving the business and investment climate. He praised the Moldovan Parliament for the adoption of the law on equal opportunities in May, which was crucial to allowing further steps in the EU-Moldova dialogue on visa liberalisation.
