Martin SCHULZ, EP President met with a group of students from Marzabotto, Italy during Strasbourg plenary session at the premises of the European Parliament in Strasbourg.
The group of students had the unique opportunity to ask questions to Martin SCHULZ, EP President regarding the operation of the European Parliament and enrich their knowledge regarding the role and the activities of the European Parliament.
On 25th February 2012, Martin SCHULZ, EP President Martin Schulz visited Marzabotto in Italy and paid a visit to the the memorial site of the Marzabotto Massacre.
On September 29, 1944, during the World War II German occupation of Italy, the town was the site of the worst massacre of civilians committed by the Waffen SS in Italy. In reprisal of the local support given to the partisans and the resistance movement, soldiers of the SS-Panzer-Aufklärungsabteilung 16, killed systematically hundreds of civilians in Marzabotto.
