00:00:10 SOUNDBITE (German) Angela MERKEL, German Chancellor "On the question on euro zone budget. What I will like to see is that all member states of the European Union will become members of the eurozone. That is what the monetary union is about. If we said that in 15, 25 years time not everybody will be member we would have asked different questions. Now thinks are turning out differently and we have to leave with it". 00:00:20
00:00:30 SOUNDBITE (German) Angela MERKEL, German Chancellor "Of course, we don't have state authority, we failed at the Constitutional Treaty. The referendums in France and Netherlands didn't work out. We must take the population with us towards law community, but we can't trough out the baby with the bath water. That can not work out from structural point of view. What happening since the introduction of the Euro all the interest rates were very law and therefore the competitively of certain countries becomes less per formant, and therefore we must be vigilant. I'm sure that the Commission will be come a European government, and I'm sure that the Council will become a second chamber one day, and I'm sure that the European Parliament will take European responsibilities , otherwise will not work on the long term. Today we must save the Euro and create the bases properly. we must give people little bit of time so they can coma with this". 00:01:18
00:01:48 SOUNDBITE (German) Angela MERKEL, German Chancellor "I want to have a strong UK in the EU. It must be absolutely clear, I come from Germany, the UK was with us when we were liberated from national socialism . I can't imagine, we still have British soldiers in Germany, I can' imagine that the UK to not be part of Europe. I think is good also for the UK to be part of Europe. if you have a world of 7 billion, and if you are alone in that world, I don't think that is good for the UK. So I will do everything to keep the UK in the EU as a good partner , and that why I'm going to London this evening and I will ask the inhabitants of the wonderful island to reflect that alone they will not be happy if they are allow in this world. With a strong Europe with 500 million we are in favour of freedom and democracy . Look around in the world and see water this isn't the case. So we are happy of being together". 00:01:06
