||Press Conference - SOUNDBITE (German): Martin SCHULZ, EP President: We work together with great success, this enormous success can be explained with one project, which was presented by the Chancellor, I found too humble, I want to say now very clearly, we had a time in the Council where only one Head of State was pushing with force and endurance for the introduction of the Financial transaction tax, that that was the Austrian Chancellor.

||Press Conference - SOUNDBITE (German): Martin SCHULZ, EP President: If there is a use of the FT tax gain and this is my second point I share and I have discuss intensively with Mr Faymann, it should be used for one of the most dramatic challenges that lies in front of us, namely the unemployment of young people, because if we don’t offer a perspective for the young generation on this continent , a generation that was given in some countries the best education we ever had, if we give no perspectives to them, then it will threaten our democracy.

||Introductory speech at the National Council:
SOUNDBITE (German): Martin SCHULZ, EP President: I believe we need to reform Europe, concentrate on the essential, what can also imply that we have to understand as the EU that there is the one or the other thing we should not manage via Brussels but to shift it back to a National level, because it could function there better.

||SOUNDBITE (German): Martin SCHULZ, EP President: Either we concentrate the power of 27 member states of 500 Million people and participate in shaping the world in the views of our values or we will fall apart into pieces, but then we will drift into a meaningless role.

||SOUNDBITE (German): Martin SCHULZ, EP President: Speculation on food is fashionable trades object at the financial markets provoking an enormous volatility on food prices and don’t be shocked if I underline the side effect, the hunger of the some people becomes the profit of the others. In my view an unmoral system, in regard to this evolution we must be aware that a National state alone will face their limits to acts, therefore we need transnational solutions which have to be worked out.
