The President of the European Parliament Martin Schulz is in an official visit to the Republic of Ireland on Wednesday 3 October and Thursday 4 October 2012. EP President Schulz has hold meetings with Ireland's key politicians, and also visited EU funded projects, and take part in a debate at the University College Dublin. Ireland takes on the six month rotating presidency of the EU Council on 1 January 2013, the date which also marks Ireland's 40 years in the EU.
