00:00:49 SOUNDBITE (French) Boguslaw SONIK (EPP, PL) "The point I defend the most was to continue to have the possibility to exploit the shale gas, to give any country the choice of what they want. We have to provide the best conditions to reduce the pollution risk, fro the health of the people living around the exploitation, and of course for the environment. Those are the conditions we put in our report. There is also the dialogue with the local people, transparency of enterprises working methods, they have to record all the chemical products according to REACH system, and give an open access to their files to any scientific willing to research the case". 00:00:54
00:01:43 SOUNDBITE (French) Boguslaw SONIK (EPP, PL) Some countries pout a moratorium. There was a temptation also to put the moratorium also on the exploitation of shale gas on the European level. this has been rejected during the vote . I think that this is the most important. The people of Europe have warring concerning these kinds of exploitations. 00:00:28
00:02:11 SOUNDBITE (French) Boguslaw SONIK (EPP, PL) The most important also is that we will not make any step back on the environmental security level because of costs. If we look at the amounts presented the costs for having more environmental security are about 7% increase to the actual costs without this special requirement. 00:00:30
