The Danube Strategy combines regional, research, transport and environmental policies, as well as security, tourism and growth to make the region a better place to live and work. It is a tool for delivering the Europe 2020 Strategy, facilitating economic growth and the creation of jobs in the macro-region. Among the projects which Johannes Hahn visited during his tour, the East of Vienna river project presented some environmental responses in the aim to foster economic development and the protection of nature.
