""The ACTA agreement that gives us international cooperation to fight piracy and counterfeit and other infringement is currently being evaluated by the European Court of Justice. And as lot of the criticisms against this agreement has been related to fundamental rights exactly what the Court has been solicited by the Commission to look into an assess, we would not like to take the final vote here in the Plenary before we had their view on this important topic. And therefore, EPP would like to move this back to the national Trade Committee. Thank you."

"ACTA has now been rejected by 5 parliamentary committees. It has been killed so many times that in fact it now only exists thanks to the EPP supporting-machine. No emergency surgery, no transplant, no longer period of recuperation is going to save ACTA. It's time to give it its last rights, it's time to give an end to the mourn and for the rest of us to get on with their lives."

"After this vote I would just like to inform the honourable members that the Commission will maintain its request to the European Court of Justice for an opinion on whether ACTA is compatible with the Treaties and in particular with the Chart of the Fundamental Rights of the European Union and after that we will study the Court's opinion closely and the Commission will discuss this matter with other signatories of ACTA and with the European Parliament and would then consider further steps to take."
