||Arrival of the speakers
||SOUNDBITE by Uffe Elbaek, Danish Minister for Culture and President in office of the Council (In English) saying that: When it comes for 'Europe for the citizens', again there was a backup and everyone was engaged in the discussion about how important it is to have a much more direct discussion between the several societies and us as a political system and politicians and the European institutions so again, there was this awareness about the fact that we have an ongoing public debate about what is the vision for Europe.
||SOUNDBITE by Uffe Elbaek (In English) saying that: This was a happy morning because we were touching some of the most important issues like how do we face the new digital reality on one hand and how can we use culture and add as a driver for positive change in our different nations but also in the Union.
||SOUNDBITE by Androulla Vassiliou, Member of the EC in charge of Education, Culture, Multilingualism and Youth (In English) saying that: If we really want to encourage cultural and linguistic diversity in Europe, we have to support this sector and I agree with my friend Minister Elbaek that there was a great support today during the discussion that we need to support this sector ; there is a wide agreement on that.
||SOUNDBITE by Androulla Vassiliou (In English) saying that: We couldn't reach a final agreement obviously because everything depends on the adoption of the multiannual financial framework so we couldn't speak about money which I hope we will be able to do during the next Cypriot Presidency.
||SOUNDBITE by Androulla Vassiliou (In English) saying that: We talked a lot about one of the novelty of our 'Creative Europe' program which is the new loan guarantee facility that we are proposing for small and medium-sized cultural and creative industries. There was a lot of discussion about that, a broad agreement as to the necessity for that, as to it usefulness but of course it is something new, it's something that we must discuss further with the Ministers.
