||SOUNDBITE (English) Martin SCHULZ, EP President: "This is a good day for the EP, to welcome the President of a new member state of the EU. The ratification process started already, 7 member states of the EU ratified the access Treaty and I underlined that we are looking with hope that the ratification process will go on with sufficient speed that on the 1st of July next year Croatia will join the EU as a full member. That's a good signal! We are on a deep economic and political crisis, and that in such a crisis a new member state nevertheless will join the EU is a good signal for us. It's a signal that there is trust in the capacity of the EU, not only to overcome the crisis, but also to be a long-term project for social welfare, political security and economic success".
||SOUNDBITE (English) Martin SCHULZ, EP President: "Croatia just won in our tournament of the young people here in front of the EP, this is also because the President of the Republic is here, so it's mandatory to win the football match. Germany lost, I must admit".
||SOUNDBITE (English) Ivo JOSIPOVIC, President of Croatia: "We had a very pleasant discussion, I enjoyed it, and one important word was dominating: trust. In Croatia we have trust in European project definitely; European Union has trust in Croatian approach to European values. Everything is going smoothly, Croatia is devoted to all requirements, to all efforts needed for our membership and I am sure that our ratification process will go smoothly till the very end. Croatia will be member of the EU on 1st July 2013 and of course we are going to win European championship, and we are going to prove that football is not the game that everybody plays but the Germans always win". (laughs, end of press point).
