Visit of Johannes Hahn to Nicosia

On 24 February 2012, Johannes Hahn, Member of the EC in charge of Regional Policy, travelled to Nicosia, where he met with Giorgos Georgiou, Head of the Planning Bureau, Andreas Christou, Mayor of Limassol (Lemesos), Alexis Galanos, Mayor of Famagusta, Demetris Christofias, President of Cyprus, Neoklis Sylikiotis, Cypriot Minister for the Interior and Androulla Kaminara, Cypriot Representative to the EU. The main purpose of his second visit to Cyprus was to discuss the priorities for the Cypriot Presidency of the European Union, which will start in July 2012, for a six-month period. Legislative proposals for the future of cohesion policy were discussed during the various meetings. During his stay, Johannes Hahn also participated in a conference on the future of the cohesion policy post 2013.
