On 22 February 2012, José Manuel Barroso, President of the EC, and the College of the EC hosted a delegation from the Cypriot Government led by Demetris Christofias, President of Cyprus. This meeting took place ahead of the first Cypriot Presidency of the Council of the EU. Discussions focused on a range of issues mainly on the economic situation, both in Europe and in Cyprus, and on the preparations for the Cypriot Presidency which will begin on the 1st July 2012.
