||Soundbite (in ENGLISH) by Helle Thorning-Schmidt: we will do what we can to bring Europe further to get out of the crisis and in this regard, the Danish Presidency will support the work of the President of the European Council, Herman van Rompuy who was here on Monday, and we also will support the Commission in finding these solutions. During the Danish Presidency, we will focus on creating growth, and jobs, stabilizing the European economy, making a greener Europe and also creating a safer Europe for our citizens.
||Soundbite (in ENGLISH) by José Manuel Barroso: structural reforms, boosting competitiveness, and measures enhancing growth are as important as putting our public finances in order to restore confidence: confidence of our citizens, but also confidence of investors worldwide. This is what the Commission has consistently advocated and insisted on in its comprehensive approach to the crisis. Growth is within our reach, if we can break down the barriers that stop money, services and people flowing through our Union as they should. And the fact that Denmark puts the deepening of the Single Market and green growth at the heart of its presidency is crucial to ensure we will succeed (2 shots).
||Soundbite (in ENGLISH) by José Manuel Barroso: representing a non euro country, Denmark, Prime Minister was doing everything to assure the unity of all the 27 Member States. This is our basic position, there is no ambiguity, and this is why we regret any kind of developments that could mean a division of Europe. It could be very detrimental for our common purpose. Of course we need more coordination in the euro area, but we can do it without undermining the basic principles of solidarity and unity among all the Member States.
