Visit of Johannes Hahn to Greece: meeting with George Papaconstantinou, Greek Minister for Environment, Energy and Climate Change

Johannes Hahn, Member of the EC in charge of Regional Policy, travelled to Athens from 13 to 14 December 2011 to discuss actions to improve and speed up the use of structural funds to create growth and jobs. During this visit the list of priority projects to be financed from EU funds which has been drawn up since Commissioner Hahn's previous visit to Greece in September, has been expanded to more than 180 projects to be implemented by the end of the current funding period in 2015. These projects represent an overall investment volume of 11.5 billion euro and will lead to the creation of between 90.000 and 108.000 new jobs in Greece. He visited the urban regenerated archaeological site of Acropolis in Athens, and made a statement to explain the relevance of his visit. Afterwards, he met with George Papaconstantinou, Greek Minister for Environment, Energy and Climate Change.
