Justice and Home Affairs Council: roundtable (justice)

During this Council meeting, Justice ministers will try to agree on a general approach regarding a directive establishing minimum standards on the rights, support and protection of victims of crime. The Council will also seek a general approach on a European investigation order on criminal matters. Ministers will also aim to reach agreement on the text of the regulation on jurisdiction, applicable law, recognition and enforcement of decisions and authentic instruments in matters of succession and the creation of a European Certificate of Succession. On the recast of a regulation on jurisdiction and the recognition and enforcement of judgments in civil and commercial matters (the so-called "Brussels I" regulation), approval of the political guidelines for further works concerning the abolition of exequatur is expected. Ministers will also be briefed by the Presidency on the state-of-play concerning a proposal for a regulation on the Common European Sales Law and will take note of a progress report on a directive on the right of access to a lawyer and on the right to communicate upon arrest.
