On 5 December Antonio Tajani, EC Vice President in charge of Industry and Entrepreneurship, Barnier, EC member in charge of Internal Market and Services and Waldemar Pawlak, Polish Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economy, held the press conference on industry following the Council. The Ministers listened to a presentation on the Commission proposal for a Competitiveness and SME (small and mediumsized enterprise) programme 2014-2020. The Council adopted conclusions on the results of the single market forum and on ways for improving impact assessments along the EU's legislative process. It also adopted conclusions on customs cooperation with Eastern neighbouring countries. The Council continued the examination of files related to the creation of unitary patent protection and of a unified patent litigation system.
