||SOUNDBITE (English) Catherine ASHTON, High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the EC: "We got the news of the death of 4 people and 46 injured in Liege in Belgium which has been unfortunately due to what it looks like a explosion..." She apologises for being distracted by reading a phone message on the attack during the debate.
||SOUNDBITE (French) Veronique DE KEYSER (S&D, BE): "Thank you to the High Representative for mentioning the dramatic situation in Liege since this afternoon. It is my city, it is also the home of two others MEPs and we are of course in mourning, we are devastated by what's happened there: 4 people killed, more than 50 victims, in the full Christmas season, everybody was out for shopping. Really it is a dramatic situation; I thank you very much for bringing this up."
