||SOUNDBITE (in ITALIAN) by Antonio Tajani, Vice-President of the EC in charge of Industry and Entrepreneurship, saying that as he said, they have set up this forum and, as he said, it will be made up four different platforms and those platforms will look at different issues. He means if there hadn't been any problems they wouldn't have set up in the first place. The aim of the forum is to solve those problems. And, as they go along, they will see how things evolve. They will see how works in the forum evolve and see what decision have to be taken.
||SOUNDBITE (in FRENCH) by Dacian Cioloş, Member of the EC in charge of Agriculture and Rural Development, saying that they need a productive sector that provides an adequate income. Otherwise, they won't have a strong agrifood chain that means that they need a better distribution of the added value along the food chain. And the best way of ensuring that is to bring together the different players in the food chain, get them together around the table. So that they can discuss the matters and improve relations. And this forum has that in its favour, brings together the different players in the food chain.
||SOUNDBITE (in French) Michel Barnier, EC Member in charge of Internal Market and Services
||SOUNDBITE (in FRENCH) by Michel Barnier, Member of the EC in charge of Internal Market and Services, saying that come backing to this specific food chain and the problems they have identified, as a question of unfair commercial practises. First and foremost they have to identify the unfair commercial practise throughout the sector that are spread, and when the food chain does not function properly, the weakest ones, who are at the beginning of the food chain, are going to be abuses exploited.
||SOUNDBITE (in ENGLISH) by John Dalli, Member of the EC in charge Health and Consumer Policy: There is consensus that a high level of safety is crucial for the sector and essential for the consumers. The challenge is to achieve the level of safety in a transparent cost effective and holistic manner. Therefore, the importance of this new high level forum for a better functioning food supply is clear for all to see.
