End production: 25/03/2010 First transmission: 25/03/2010
This video shows the arrivals at the Tripartite Social Summit for Growth and Employment which took place on 25 March 2010 in Brussels. This Summit meets at least once a year, before the spring European Council, and institutionalises the informal summits held since December 2000. It consists of the Council Presidency and the two subsequent Presidencies, the European Commission and the social partners, represented at the highest level. Its objective is to ensure the effective participation of the social partners in implementing the EU's economic and social policies. The Tripartite Social Summit focused on the Europe 2020 strategy and on Europe's exit of the current economic and financial crisis. The Summit demonstrated the broad consensus on the need to combine an exit strategy with a structural reform agenda.
