End production: 24/03/2010 First transmission: 24/03/2010
On 24 March 2010, Nikola Gruevski, Prime Minister of the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, paid a visit to Štefan Füle, Member of the EC in charge of Enlargement and European Neighbourhood Policy, in Brussels. They discussed the country's progress in the accession process to the European Union, including the key reform priorities, also known as the 8+1 benchmarks. The name issue with Greece was also raised. The European Commission strongly encourages the settlement of the issue, and considers that maintaining good neighbourly relations, including a negotiated and mutually acceptable solution to the name issue under the auspices of the UN, remains essential.
