On 24 March 2010, in the margins of EU Sustainable Energy Week 2010, Günther Oettinger, Member of the EC in charge of Energy, and Connie Hedegaard, Member of the EC in charge of Climate Action, took part at the award ceremony "Showcasing Europe's best", in Brussels. The Sustainable Energy Europe Campaign was a European Commission initiative in the framework of the Intelligent Energy - Europe programme, which aimed to raise public awareness and promote sustainable energy production and use among individuals and organizations, private companies and public authorities, professional and energy agencies, industry associations and NGOs across Europe.
