Hillary Rodham Clinton, US Secretary of State, met with José Manuel Barroso, President of the EC, on 5 March 2009 in Brussels for bilateral talks on reviving the transatlantic relations since the entry into office of the new American Administration.
Global issues such as the current financial and economic crisis or the fight against climate change were on the agenda, as well as the upcoming EU/US summit. Barack Obama, President of the United States, is to meet with European Union leaders for the first time since his election, at a meeting on 5 April 2009 in Prague.
