Vladimír Špidla, Member of the EC in charge of Employment, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities, visited European Social Fund projects in Mons, Belgium, on 23 February 2009.
Belgium needs more workers. It also has a growing elderly population, which is opting out of the workforce in larger numbers than ever before. Belgium's plans for ESF funding aim to tackle these joint challenges by helping older people stay in work longer, and by absorbing disadvantaged groups into the workforce of the future.
