Education, Youth and Culture Council: round table (Youth)

The Education, Youth and Culture Council (EYC Council) met in Brussels on 20 and 21 November 2008.
The session on youth was presided over by Bernard Laporte, French Minister of State with responsibility for Sport, Youth and Voluntary Sector, and President in office of the Council.
The Ministers were expected to adopt the draft resolution on the health and well-being of young people, and the draft recommendation on the mobility of young volunteers in Europe. The Ministers were also expected to discuss the mobility of young people in Europe, the future framework for European cooperation with regard to young people and the European Youth Pact.
The Council was preceded by an informal forum during which the Ministers of the Presidency trio (France, the Czech Republic and Sweden) and the previous Presidency (Slovenia), along with Ján Figel’, Member of the EC in charge of Education, Training, Culture and Youth, representatives of the General Secretariat of the Council and the European Parliament, debated with the European Youth Forum, the platform of national youth councils and youth NGOs in Europe.
