EU Ministers for Justice gathered in Luxembourg on 24 October 2008 to search a political agreement on the establishment of a European Criminal Record Information System, which would be indispensable for the effective interconnection on the criminal records of the 27 Member States. They were also expected to adopt a resolution on the training of the judiciary to create a common legal culture among the judicial staff of the European Union. Finally, Ministers were expected to take a decision on the regulation on alimony, maintenance or spousal support obligations designed to simplify collection and make life easier for European citizens.
