||Javier Solana, Secretary General of the Council of the EU and High Representative for CFSP, saying (in ENGLISH) that he congratulates Barack Obama. It has been a fantastic victory. The turnout has been very high and he thinks every election means to renew. The ticket that Barack Obama has run for, it is a ticket for change. And change is what we need in the world today. They have on the table many problems. He very much hopes that they will be able to do it together, to find the solution to them, together, between the EU and US. The EU is willing. The EU is ready. And he would like to say also that European and American people will not be enough, to have the EU and the US together. The problems of today they need to incorporate other main players. He thinks about China, he thinks about organisations like the African Union, and many others. So they have a very important day, a historical day, and he hopes very much that the Europeans will be together also to make the outmoster out of this important moment.
||Javier Solana saying (in ENGLISH) that the agenda that they have is well known. There are problems that come from the financial crisis to the problems they have been having on the agenda, Middle East Peace Process, Afghanistan, climate change, many others. In all of them, they will try to work together in a constructive manner because he thinks that relationship between the EU and US is fundamental to solve the problems of the world; but as he said, also, they have to incorporate others. The financial crisis is a very good example of how others have to be incorporated to the table. But the tandem, the couple US and EU will continue to be fundamental.
||Javier Solana saying (in FRENCH) that he is very happy and this shows the political capacity of the US. He would like to congratulate Barack Obama, who won in a good way, and the US population for its mobilization.
||Javier Solana saying (in FRENCH) that the relations between the US and EU are very good. But despite the change and the problems that they will have on the table, he hopes that they will be able to work together. It is their wish. And he hopes it will be the wish of the American people as well.
||Javier Solana saying (in SPANISH) that the relations between the US and EU are very good. But it is true that they can change to be better when a new administration starts working. This administration is planned ahead by Barack Obama who presented to the elections with an agenda of changes and change is what they need at this moment to solve today's problems from the economical point of view but also in the international agenda. He hopes and he wishes that it will be a very fruitful cooperation.
