José Manuel Barroso, President of the EC, congratulated Barack Obama following his victory in the US presidential election 2008. He says that this is a time for a renewed commitment between Europe and the United States of America and he adds that the European Commission will work in forging this renewed commitment to face together the many challenges ahead of them. It is necessary to change the current crisis into a new opportunity and a new deal for a new world.
