The Justice and Home Affairs Council dealt with Home Affairs issues on 24 October 2008 in Luxembourg. The EU Ministers for the Interior were invited to adopt a draft regulation for migration and to give a new mandate to the Commission to continue the development of SIS II. They were also expected to adopt the draft conclusions on the creation of a European alert platform, based on national platforms, for illegal content on the Internet. Ministers also discussed an action plan for combating drug trafficking in Western Africa, and reviewed the ongoing discussions on the European passenger name record data.
