The first ministerial meeting to enhance the political dialogue between the Pacific Islands Forum and the European Union was held on 16 September 2008 in Brussels. The dialogue covered issues such as regional security and governance, economic stability and growth, international trade, environment and development cooperation. The Pacific Islands Forum Troika included the current Forum Chair, Toke Talagi, Prime Minister of Niue, along with Ministers representing the past Forum Chair, Tonga, and the next Forum Chair, Australia.
