An EU/Kazakhstan Cooperation Council was held on 16 September 2008 in Brussels to review the Partnership and Cooperation Agreement between the EU and Kazakhstan and to discuss a wide range of issues on bilateral cooperation. Special focus was on the country's accession to the WTO and on energy cooperation. Both sides also reviewed domestic reforms, human rights protection, OSCE chairmanship and trade-investment cooperation. A protocol to the Partnership and Cooperation Agreement was signed between Kazakhstan and the European Union as well.
