David Bakradze, Chairman of the Georgian Parliament, was in Brussels on 17 September 2008 to brief Javier Solana, Secretary General of the Council of the EU and High Representative for CFSP, on the current situation in Georgia. They talked about the latest developments in the crisis with Russia, about the six point agreement and the subsequent implementing measures. Earlier that day, Javier Solana welcomed the decision by the Political and Security Committee to appoint Hansjörg Haber as Head of Mission for the EU Monitoring Mission in Georgia which will be operational by 1 October. Hansjörg Haber will have a crucial role in putting together and launching the mission as a key part of the EU's efforts to address the crisis in Georgia and enhance stability in the region.
