Ali Babacan, Turkish Minister for Foreign Affairs, was in Luxembourg on 17 June 2008 to meet with representatives of the European institutions for an Accession Council. Two new chapters, one on company law and another on intellectual property law, were expected to be officially opened to negotiation, bringing to eight the number of policy areas Turkey has opened since it began accession talks in 2005.
