An EU/Brazil Troika meeting took place on 6 June 2008 in Brdo. The EU delegation was headed by Dimitrij Rupel, Slovenian Minister for Foreign Affairs and President in office of the Council, and the Brazilian delegation by Celso Amorim, Brazilian Minister for Foreign Affairs. Benita Ferrero-Waldner, Member of the EC in charge of External Relations and European Neighbourhood Policy, attended the meeting too. The ministerial meeting was devoted to the exchange of views on the strategic partnership between the EU and Brazil and Brazil's draft Joint Action Plan. Discussion was also held on topics of common interest, particularly those of the EU/LAC Summit in Lima, e.g. combating poverty, climate change and the need for energy security. The interlocutors discussed topical international issues such as the Middle East, the United Nations and the Latin America situation.
